2010 Fundraising Campaign
'By the Bus Campaign'
A fundraising drive with a set goal of $12,000. This is the cost of a 25-seat mini bus that our partner, EyeCare WeCare Foundation, Inc., desperately needs for their overseas mission in the Philippines.
EyeCare WeCare Foundation is a non-profit, Christian, international organization that does medical vision missions twice a year in the remote island of Visayas in the Philippines. They operate a mobile clinic ('Clinic on Wheels') manned by volunteers that provide free eye care, ophthalmic surgery, medications and eyeglasses to the indigent people in that area. During the last three years, over 6,000 indigents in the impoverished rural areas of the Philippines have benefited from free eye care and vision care as a result of the humanitarian work by the Foundation.
The Foundation transports over 20 volunteers to all of their medical missions. These volunteers ride aboard their mobile clinic to the rural destination but because the mobile clinic will need to stay in the site for 2 to 3 days they need a vehicle to transport the volunteers back home at night and to the mission site the next day. The mini bus will be a tremendous help to their volunteers.
The mini bus will also be used during the day to reach remote areas that are not easily accessible by the mobile clinic and to transport physically handicapped indigents to and from their mobile clinic.
